Courtyard Pool and Backyard Renovation
Building upon a previous renovation of this New Orleans home, the KWPool is a contemporary outdoor oasis which extends living space to the outdoors. With the limited space between side fence and house and layers of historic flotsam and jetsum to dig through, the pool was imagined as a sliver of water between a rock and a hard place. Within this narrow strip, the pool incorporates a sun deck, lap pool, plunge, and a hot tub. A small outbuilding for storage and an outdoor shower were added along the fence surrounds. New planters and midnight green paint were added to create a dark, lush, cool atmosphere to contrast the sultry New Orleans climate. The travertine pavers and geometric pool tile were selected for their contemporary yet classical presence, harkening back to ancient Roman baths.
